Anyway, the blogging will do nothing but pick up steam, and here is one that caught my eye on ESPN.com.  Adam Rittenberg the Big 10 blogger has posted up his top 5 opportunities for the Big 10 to earn some respect out of conference, and the #1 game is no surprise:  Penn State vs Alabama.

The Penn State - Alabama game on September 11 is not only a monster for the Nittany Lion nation, but really is a chance for the Big 10 to makes some noise early in the season.  Bama is going to be favored (my guess is by at least a TD at home), and the country will be expecting Alabama to win.  But the game will get plenty of attention and a win would be a huge early story line on the season, and probably put the Nittany Lions immediately in the top 10.

Also, his #2 choice is the Miami at Ohio State game on the same day, and I see that game as a role reversal for the Big 10 conference.  OSU will clearly be favored in that one, but they will play a talented, fast, and free-wheeling ACC team with nothing to lose but an OOC league.  A loss for the Buckeyes in that game would be pretty damaging for the Big 10 conference.

To be honest with you, the other games in his top 5, don't excite as much, even the USC vs Minnesota game.  All worth watching, but nothing even close to the intrigue associated with #1 and #2.
