Now here is the is the kind of quote you like to see leading up to a bowl game. This is exactly what is needed to get the hype for a big bowl game turned up a notch! This is a quote by Penn State's opponent's quarterback (not just some player, but the QB), basically calling out not just the Nittany Lions, but the entire Big 10.
Bowls games are rewards for teams, fun trips for fans, and holiday college football TV entertainment for most. But they also end up being grudge matches for conferences.
LSU's Jordan Jefferson just added fuel to the fire.
Here is and exerpt from the article in the Shreveport Times:
"Our two conferences are a lot different," Jefferson said Monday after the Tigers' first practice in preparation for the bowl. "The SEC has a lot more speed-type people. They (the Big Ten) have a lot more big guys. We've got great receivers and running backs to try to take advantage of something Penn State doesn't have."
So maybe I'm doing a little reading between the lines, but its not that far of a stretch to conclude that Jefferson thinks the Big 10 is slow. I assume he and the Tigers plan to show just how slow the Penn State players are is in the Capital One Bowl.
I think its safe to say this will be bulletin board material. I personally am looking forward to this tortoise vs hare match up very much.
