Not for Destinee Hooker, who is Texas leading hitter, she had the Horns rolling up two sets to zero, but Texas choked again and goes down to the best team in women’s volleyball ever.  Texas choked last year in the semi-finals, going down to Stanford after also being up two sets to zero.  That makes it three straight National Championships and back-2-back undefeated seasons for Penn State, both have NEVER been done before in collegiate women’s volleyball. 

The other ‘twist’ to the match tonight was Texas having the highest paid assistant coach in women’s volleyball, who defected from Penn State after last year (she played and coached at Penn State for many years).  I guess her motto as a coach is ‘show me the money’, but I bet she would trade some of that lute for another National Championship ring.  It just makes the win even sweeter to do it against a defector.

This achievement is truly amazing, I am proud to be a Nittany Lion tonight.
